About the Role

The goal of the Tupande Digital Team is to revolutionize how we serve our customers across the region through technology that works for our people. We believe this will double the number of clients One Acre Fund serves, increase impact, and improve sustainability. We aim to achieve this by using technology to better serve our customers.

You will manage planning, coordinating, and supervising critical Business Intelligence activities related to the development of company-wide reporting and analytics to contribute to strategic decision-making across Tupande. 

You will lead a team of Data Analysts and report to the Data Lead.

Responsibilities
  • Set the vision, and strategic direction of the Business Intelligence function and guide implementation to ensure maturation of business intelligence within Tupande
  • Position the Business Intelligence sub-unit as a data partner for all projects your team oversees from project brainstorming to completion
  • Oversee the building and deployment of models to improve efficiency, identify notable trends and inspire innovation
  • Develop and implement oversight and post-implementation evaluation over all activities to ensure outcomes achieved meet BUs’ and departments’ objectives
  • Identify data quality issues with the aim to achieve accuracy, consistency and reliability and assisting in the development of and adherence to BI standards
  • Gather technical user requirements and translate these into statistical data models and reports
  • Team management: Build and lead a high-performing team and invest in the team’s professional development

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Knowledge:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, economics, statistics, finance, or a related technical field
    • Understanding of reporting and business intelligence best practices
  • Technical skills:
    • Experience managing data warehouse and reporting infrastructure to help scale reporting needs while maintaining a conducive environment for reporting
    • Analytical skills with the experience to translate business needs into technical solutions
    • BI platforms: Power BI; Superset, Metabase
    • SQL: writing complex, optimized queries with large relational datasets
    • Programming Languages: Python, R
    • Data Modeling: SQL and NoSQL data 
    • Documentation 
    • Knowledge of the Dataiku platform
  • Other:
    • At least 3+ years of work experience with 3+ years leading a team
