POSTION SUMMARY
AccuWeather is looking for an experienced software developer to support the modernization of our core forecast processing systems and methodologies, including the visualization of weather information. This role will help lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of software that processes real-time weather content and model data used within AccuWeather’s suite of innovative consumer and enterprise products. The candidate should have demonstrated experience and knowledge in building and maintaining new components that ensure reliable processing, visualization, and representation of data.
This position will work cross-functionally with multiple development teams, senior leadership, and other groups in an Agile-based development environment. This hands-on position requires broad competence and technical knowledge of data processing and representation tools. Candidates should also have experience with cloud computing, Azure certification is a plus. A suitable candidate will also possess a deep knowledge of multiple scripting languages, relational databases, and complex file and data structures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and Maintain Visualization Solutions: Create interactive and visually compelling data visualizations using modern frameworks and tools to interpret complex datasets.
• GeoServer Configuration: Set up, configure, and optimize GeoServer for serving spatial data via OGC-compliant services (WMS, WFS, WCS).
• Spatial Data Management: Process, analyze, and integrate geospatial datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and consistency.
• Optimize Performance: Implement caching, tiling, and other optimization techniques to ensure efficient rendering and serving of geospatial data.
• Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, GIS analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Documentation and Training: Write comprehensive technical documentation and provide training to end-users on utilizing visualization tools effectively.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: 5+ years in software development with a focus on data visualization and geospatial technologies.
Technical Expertise:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and geospatial services (e.g., AWS, Google Earth Engine).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of advanced geospatial modeling or machine learning techniques.
• Prior experience in agile development environments.
