The Site Reliability Engineer will be responsible for Site Reliability Engineering including Database Reliability Engineering. More specifically architecting, building, securing, and maintaining the systems powering the Direct-to-Consumer platforms. The SRE will embrace a software-driven approach to managing infrastructure as code, leveraging deployment pipelines, with a heavy focus on automation, databases, testing, observability, and resiliency.
 
Responsibilities

  • Work with partner Site Reliability Engineering teams, Database Reliability Engineering, and Software Delivery teams to determine and implement cloud networking, monitoring, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Ensure databases and supporting infrastructure are highly performant, available, and resilient.
  • Develop methodologies to safely deploy and test database changes.
  • Design, create and deliver infrastructure, code or services to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our internal or customer-facing services
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving database issues
  • Design multi-region/multi-cloud fault tolerant database systems
  • Provide database support to engineering teams, while promoting automation and self-service
  • Design and automate database management processes including backup, recovery, and testing
  • Create dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and documentation
  • Build cloud-agnostic solutions that can be quickly deployed against a wide variety of cloud computing providers.
  • Review and make recommendations on schemas and queries.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology  or relevant work experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, with database management experience

Experience with Druid and Databricks

• Experience with replication and high availability technologies or methodologies
• Demonstrated experience with large scale 24/7 production environments
• Configuration management / Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible)
• CI/CD (Concourse)
• Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, RedHat)
• Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP)
• Monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana)
• Logging (ELK, Splunk, Loki)
• Software development or scripting (Python, Go, Bash)
• Experience with a digital media direct-to-consumer business highly preferred
• Certification in AWS, GCP a plus
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, comfortable communicating with technical and non-technical colleagues and executives
• Ability to understand large complex software systems and their interdependencies
