The Senior Program Manager has overall accountability for the success of critical programs at Eargo. The Sr. Program Manager will lead cross-functional core teams responsible for requirements definition, product design, development, test, and commercial launch of new products.  The Sr. Program Manager may also lead Advanced Development (Technology Concept and Feasibility) Programs and Sustaining Engineering Programs, as well as individual hardware, firmware and/or software sub-programs.
The Sr. Program Manager must be a doer and a leader.  S/he must inspire confidence in team members and executives and serve as an example for program management excellence in the organization. 
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Achieve on-scope, on-time, and on-budget product launches.
  • Leads complex programs through integrated program planning along with tactical project planning, risk management, project execution and communication to all levels of the organization.
  • Defines, delegates and evaluates the roles, responsibilities, goals and deliverables for core and extended team members; holds team members and her/himself accountable for responsibilities and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with program team members to develop and execute detailed project plans.
  • Encourages program teams to approach challenges in different ways; takes a “how can we make this happen” approach.
  • Ensures Design and Change Control processes are followed per relevant procedures and manages Phase Gate reviews.
  • Leads teams to prepare for Go/No-Go decisions by executive leadership, ensuring that decisions are informed by a balanced and clearly articulated representation of the relevant data.
  • Communicates program updates to functional management and executive leadership.
  • Defines program resources/budget needs; works with functional leaders to ensure resource commitment and continued performance.
  • Collaborates with program team members to identify program risks, mitigations, and responses.
  • Ensures effective and efficient regular formal and informal communications with the Core Teams using a variety of tools and channels.
  • Works closely with R&D, Regulatory, Quality, Marketing and Manufacturing Ops and other program/project managers throughout the product development process.
  • Works closely with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support development, test and design transfer activities.  Leads, directs, coaches, and mentors other team members.
  • Ensures programs comply with company quality management systems while identifying creative ways to provide speed to market.
  • Ensure teams are aligned and committed to program goals and objectives.
  • Contributes to improving the product development process and demonstrates program management best practices.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required, engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience successfully leading new product development programs.
  • Management of whole systems development covering hardware, firmware, and software required. Experience in FDA-regulated medical device industry desired. Experience with Agile development and best practices desired.
  • Ability to simultaneously prioritize and track day-to-day activities without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills coupled to strong business, strategic and financial acumen.
  • Highly effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication competence, including engagement with executive-level management.
  • Inspirational and motivational leader capable of balancing accountability with mentorship and support.
  • Skilled at facilitating and understanding team dynamics.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change; able to effectively develop and evolve plans as supporting data is collected.
  • Ability to operate independently within given boundaries and constraints.
