We are seeking a Lead System Engineer with strong expertise in managing and supporting hypervisors, virtual machines, servers, storage, and backup systems. The role focuses on working with Hyper-V, SCVMM, and Windows-based infrastructure to ensure smooth operation, high performance, and reliability. 

The successful candidate will handle system design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise-level virtualization and data centre environments.

The Lead System Engineer ensures systems meet technical standards, perform reliably, and are secure. This role involves resolving issues, optimizing performance, and maintaining high availability and scalability of the company’s on-premises IT infrastructure.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Virtualization Management: Oversee, enhance, and optimize high-load on-premises infrastructure, including Hyper-V hypervisors and SCVMM.
  • Server Infrastructure Support: Maintain and support NAS, GPU-accelerated servers, storage systems and other bare-metal servers to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Data Center Infrastructure Oversee: Manage and collaborate with Remote Hands to operate and maintain data center environments, ensuring optimal power distribution, neat and tidy racks.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Managing and supporting high-load Hyper-V, SCVMM, servers, storage systems, GPU, NAS, backup appliances and other bare-metal servers. 
  • Working closely with Remote Hands to operate data center infrastructure.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining virtualization based on Hyper-V, SCVMM and Windows Server to ensure reliability, security, and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues to minimize downtime and maintain smooth operations.
  • Optimizing Hyper-V performance and ensuring scalability for future growth.
  • Monitoring infrastructure health and performing regular updates, patches, and backups.
  • Ensuring compliance with technical standards and security protocols.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support IT projects and infrastructure improvements.
  • Participating in on-call duties to maintain high availability and rapid issue resolution.

We expect from you:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Senior or Lead System Engineer.
  • Technical Skills:
    Microsoft Virtualization: Extensive experience with Microsoft virtualization platforms, including Hyper-V and SCVMM, for managing large-scale virtual environments, dozens of physical servers and hundreds of virtual machines.
    Hardware and Datacenter Technologies: Extensive knowledge of modern hardware and datacenter technologies, including NVMe, fabric, DPU, and other advanced infrastructure solutions.
    Scripting&Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python or PowerShell) for managing and maintaining Hyper-V, SCVMM and Windows Server infrastructure. Experience with Terraform or Ansible for automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management processes.
    Server Hardware: Strong experience working with enterprise-level server hardware, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of physical servers.
    Storage Area Networks (SAN): Hands-on experience with SAN, including configuring, managing, and troubleshooting SAN infrastructure and storage protocols such as iSCSI, Fibre Channel.
  • Nice to have:
    VMware Virtualization: Experience with the VMware ecosystem, including installation, configuration, and management of VMware solutions.
    HCI Solutions: Experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solutions, including deployment, configuration, and management of HCI environments.
    Block Storage Systems: Experience with block storage systems, including configuration, management, and optimization of storage environments.
    Grafana and Zabbix: Skills in developing dashboards in Grafana for real-time monitoring and data visualization, along with configuring and improving Zabbix monitoring.
