Job Summary:
The Director, Software Engineering – Interoperability, Regulatory and Compliance – is primarily responsible for managing multiple software development teams and products to effectively develop, release and maintain complex software solutions according to business needs.  The Director, Software Engineering manages the distribution of resources including the department budget, interviews and hires Technical Owners & engineers, establishes team goals as well as effectively collaborates within the Directors domain and across the organization.  Responsible for delivering product on time and budget, frequently applying advanced resourcing concepts to keep projects on track in a fast paced, changing environment.  Creates functional strategies and specific objectives, develops and adapts the organizational structure and creates policies and procedures to support the department.
This Director, Software Engineering position will be responsible for the Regulatory and Sustaining Product development organization.  Primary responsibilities include developing new software features on all platforms to comply with the US Department of Health and Human Services requirements for electronic health records, managing a triage team to identify, research and document issues reported by customers on our go forward platform as well as maintain existing sustaining products.

In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards, specific responsibilities of this role include:
Essential Functions
  • Manage multiple software teams and products in an agile product development environment
  • Guide and direct all software development projects for the teams within the directors domain
  • Develop relationships, coordinate and communicate effectively with other product engineering TO’s, Directors, VP’s and executive leadership
  • Communicate, implement and drive organizational improvements within software teams
  • Balance competing priorities and formulate creative solutions to deliver best in class software solutions on time
  • Leads multiple teams effort to accept changes in assignment, priority and workload
  • Applies advanced principles, theories and concepts to a wide variety of technical issues and projects
  • Represent the organization as the primary technical contact on major projects and initiatives
  • Relentless dedication to continuous improvement across the organization
  • Establishes and refines operational metrics across teams to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Evaluate advanced issues for customer-facing issue resolution
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge throughout all Nextech products and technologies
  • Minimum Requirements
  • 10+ years industry experience, including development of robust, scalable micro-service back-ends
  • 5+ years managing multiple software teams
  • 5+ years of experience with the Microsoft tech stack
  • Extensive experience in managing both managers and engineers including hiring full time employees as well as on shore and offshore contractors
  • Extensive experience delivering multiple products to market using Agile methodologies
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proven effective communication track record with all levels of the organization.
  • An appreciation for open and constructive dialog with your teams and other teams across the organization
  • Creativity, motivation, and a strong attention to detail
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • HIPPA experience
  • Meaningful Use/Cures Act experience
  • Experience developing successful SaaS systems
  • Familiar with Jira
  • Azure and Azure DevOps experience
  • Medical software industry experience
  • Working Environment/Physical Demands
  • Works generally at a desk in a well-lighted, air-conditioned cubicle/office, with moderate noise levels. 
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed % travel. 
  • Activities require a significant amount of sitting at office and work desks and in front of a computer monitors
