We are looking for a manager to lead a growing team of technical writers who create and publish content for our industry-leading cloud platform, applications, and services.
As a manager on the Information Experience (IX) team, you will work with various cross-functional teams to develop a keen understanding of our technologies and audiences. You will use your passion for customer success to make sure our business and technical users get the right information, when and where they need it. You will mentor and grow team members, and help the team prioritize effectively. You will manage multiple projects and ensure that we deliver impactful content on time and at high quality.
To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills, strong technical and project management skills, a hands-on approach, and a self-motivated attitude. Expect to work in a diverse management team that collaborates to develop our talent, and seeks to continuously improve how we work and to move our trade to the next level.
Responsibilities:
Manage a team of Information Development professionals who design, develop, and publish content, including application guides, online experiences, developer documentation, and API content
Collaborate with product owners, designers, software leads and developers, and other teams to plan, create, and update product content in alignment with business strategy and goals
Drive the information experience through various deliverables and formats, including contextual assistance, UI text, and walk-throughs
Use analytics and feedback to measure content effectiveness and to drive improvements
Lead and participate in initiatives to solve specific challenges or to develop innovative approaches to content design and delivery
Support the team in creating and publishing content as needed
Track and manage projects in a fast-paced environment
Manage and mentor the team to help them through their careers and to achieve a shared product vision
Requirements:
5+ years of experience as a writer for enterprise software for multiple audiences, with at least 2 years leading technical writing teams
Ability to think critically about the user journey and to craft holistic persona-based information experiences that span multiple media and formats
Understanding and application of minimalism, structured authoring, content strategy, and information architecture
Ability to prioritize to manage multiple responsibilities across projects and teams
Experience collaborating with cross-functional groups across different geographic locations
Ability to grasp new technologies quickly and to work hands-on with products so you can empathize with the challenges our users face
Good understanding of SaaS technologies, cloud platforms and applications, Dev Ops processes, and APIs
Successful track record of driving change
Experience coaching, growing, and motivating team members to achieve their full potential
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Bachelor’s degree or above in a technical or content-related field, or comparable work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in DITA or Markdown
Working knowledge of source control tools (such as Git), API documentation tools (such as Swagger tools), video creation tools, and walk-through tools (such as Pendo)
Experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment
Experience using analytics tools (such as Google Analytics and Pendo) that can help making data-driven decisions
UX writing or copywriting experience
