Industry

Imagine a world powered by everyone’s full potential.

Picture everyone having fair access to higher education, enabled by admission processes that allow applicants to be seen for their full potential, including lived experiences, cultural influences, values and soft skills.

In that world, higher education programs are also enabled with technology that streamlines complex operations and delivers analytics and insights that can increase student and program success.

That’s what we’re building at Acuity Insights.

Right now, we do it with our admissions assessment products (Casper & Duet), program management products (One45 & MSPE Builder), and our data integration platform (Analytics).

These products help schools discover, select, train and graduate future doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, business leaders, and other professionals who reflect the diversity of our communities and bring skills like empathy, integrity, resiliency, and professionalism into the workforce.

Acuity Insights is at a new growth stage. Our roots are planted firmly in health sciences and medical education. We are exploring and expanding into engineering education, business schools, and other professional disciplines.

You now have a chance to be part of our scaling journey when you join as an Operations Coordinator on the Casper Operations team.

Opportunity & Impact

As an Operations Coordinator on the Casper Operations’ Content team, you’ll help support our most widely used product, Casper.

Casper is a soft skills test used in the admissions process of hundreds of academic programs globally, including teacher’s colleges, engineering, and medical schools. Over 140,000 applicants take the test every year.

The Content team leads Casper Operations from scenario idea generation and production to test development, quality assurance and test content publishing.

Your work on the team will centre around test content enablement that helps streamline processes and facilitate collaboration between internal teams and contractors during the content development and content review phases.

Contractor Pool

As our Operations Coordinator in Content, you get to own and manage our Casper Test Content contractor pool. Today, there are 20+ contractors, including content developers, reviewers, and subject matter experts.

Your work involves building and nurturing positive relationships with the contractors, ensuring they are well-trained, feel engaged and supported, and paid on time.

You’ll be a traffic light for incoming and outgoing contractor work. This includes directing and assigning work to contractors and ensuring the right people receive deliverables back and on time.

As demand for Casper grows, we also need to increase our pool of readily available contractors. You get to lead that expansion, recruiting and onboarding new contractors.

Process Optimization

Joining right now is a chance to help build and manage a content enablement infrastructure and processes to support more Casper tests across more programs in more countries worldwide.

An example improvement project includes simplifying and streamlining the process of assigning work to contractors, which currently use different systems and databases and can be prone to human error. Another improvement opportunity focuses on our contractor training, updating out-of-date training material and creating a more engaging and interactive experience for them.

Test Construction & Quality Assurance

Being on the Casper Operations Content team means you also get to help build Casper tests. This involves plugging the content of some tests into our Casper application, which is used by applicants to take the test.

You’ll also coordinate quality assurance work with our dedicated QA contractor pool and ensure that content-related and technical-related feedback gets reviewed by the appropriate internal team members for implementation.

Measurements of Success

You’ll know you are successful at Acuity Insights and meeting performance expectations in your role when:

  • Maintain the size of our contractor pool at a level that allows for scaling Casper Content Operations.
  • The contractors you manage are well-trained, paid, engaged and can be relied upon.
  • Test content is published on time, every time.
  • Published test content meets our quality standards.
  • Your contributions to streamlining and automating content development and content review processes help increase the team’s overall capacity to spend time on other high-value, high-impact strategic initiatives for the business.
  • Peers, collaborators, and leaders you support and collaborate with across Casper Operations and other company functions, like Customer Success, feel and recognize the impact of your work.

The Operations Coordinator role is remote within Canada and reports to Amanda Ruppert, Senior Manager – Casper Operations (Assessment Content).

To thrive in the role, you:
  • Consider yourself an expert at organizing chaos and creating structure around you. You skillfully manage details, time, and resources, prioritize tasks and responsibilities, and have a plan to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Write and speak English at a high level of proficiency, know the importance of clear and frequent communication in a remote work environment, and have built a habit of communicating proactively.
  • Have a preference for deadline-driven work environments.
  • Bring at least one operation-focused professional experience in a role where you’ve managed or coordinated contractors, vendors or customers.
  • Have helped coordinate or spearhead operations-related projects from initiation to completion, for example, implementing a new tool, process or standard involving multiple collaborators and stakeholders.
  • Have participated in the process of sourcing, screening and hiring gig workers.
  • Bring some professional experience managing a database of information, for example, contractor details, support requests, work assignments and payments due and completed.
To thrive at Acuity Insights, you are
  • Caring toward people. You take the time to listen and understand, encourage, and provide helpful feedback that can foster growth in others.
  • Curious by nature. You are open-minded, like asking questions, exploring, experimenting, and learning new things.
  • Driven to problem-solve independently and with collaborators. You continuously seek to improve your skills, methods, and practices.
  • Adaptable and drawn to startup-like environments where you can help build, innovate, and initiate and own projects that drive positive change.
  • Autonomous and at your best when you handle your work and time independently and seek support when you get stuck or need feedback.
  • Self-aware, with an understanding of your strengths and where you have growth opportunities.
  • Motivated by purposeful projects that resonate with your values and interests and work that serves the greater good.
Selection Process

Your application is evaluated based on your professional experiences, how you’ve used your skills to contribute and achieve impact, and the soft skills you demonstrate.

You will receive equal consideration for an interview, whether you apply, get referred or contact the hiring manager or recruiter directly.

You must reside in Canada and be eligible to work there to be considered for an interview.

Interview Process

Our interview process is a two-way discovery process that creates space for meaningful conversations.

We want to get to know you as a human, understand your professional journey and experiences, assess your skill levels, and ensure alignment with our mission, values and business needs.

We encourage you to be curious and ask insightful questions throughout our interactions.

Here are the steps you can expect:

  • Review & Selection. A human, not an AI, reviews your application and evaluates your potential alignment with our hiring criteria.
  • Intro Chat with Recruiter. If selected, you’ll receive an invitation to a 45-60 minute phone call to share your story and professional interests and learn more about the company, team, role and compensation.
  • Meet The Manager. Have a 45-minute video call with your potential future manager to discuss relevant experiences in more depth and learn more about the team and day-to-day in the role.
  • Take-Home Project. Try out what it’s like to manage contractors in this role. This project also provides you the opportunity to showcase how you prioritize tasks, delegate work to contractors, and negotiate deadlines with stakeholders.
  • Meet The Team. Connect with 3 future peers and collaborators in 1-on-1 video conversations, each 30 minutes long, and learn more about the team, role, and life at Acuity Insights.
  • Wait For a Decision. The Hiring Manager consolidates and evaluates feedback from the team to make a hiring decision within 2-4 days.
  • Receive an Offer / Reference Check. If you’re a good fit for the role, team, and company, we’ll invite you to an offer conversation. The offer is contingent upon the completion of a reference check.

About Us

Acuity Insights is a Canadian company founded in 2014.

Our first product (Casper) was invented by Dr. Kelly Dore and Oncology Professor Harold Reiter to improve the admissions process at McMaster University’s School of Medicine in Ontario. They recognized that traditional entrance exams and cover letters were biased and lacked insight into applicants’ emotional intelligence and professionalism and built a test to assess those skills.

We acquired One45, a medical education software company, in 2021. The acquisition expanded our product line with two new products (One45 & Analytics) and doubled the size of our team.

Behind Acuity Insights today, you’ll find a team of 130+ caring, curious, and driven individuals collaborating remotely across Canada and some international locations.

It’s a team that actively fosters a culture and builds an environment where everyone feels included, respected, valued, and well-supported and has the energy to bring their full potential to work.

The presence and representation of a wide range of identities, backgrounds, and perspectives on our team is a strength. Our diversity fuels our ability to innovate, helps us build and evolve our market-leading products, contributes to a healthier work environment, and enables us to build a sustainable and capable organization to deliver the business outcomes we want.

We encourage individuals from non-traditional backgrounds or historically marginalized and underrepresented groups to explore and apply to our open roles.

Thanks for your interest in Acuity Insights as your potential new workplace!
